Inside a Three-Storey Landed Home, Automated From Ground to Rooftop

The brief was one sentence long: every room, every floor, every device under one system, controlled from one app, and none of it dependent on the internet to keep running.
The home is a newly renovated three-storey landed property in the east of Singapore. By the time we were called in, the interior designer, Aric, had already shaped it beautifully. Our job was to make it intelligent without undoing any of that work — which is most of the job, on a house this size.
What the family asked for, and what they got
Ground to rooftop, one system
Living and dining, both kitchens, every bedroom, the hallways, and the outdoor spaces — all on the same system, in the same app. Not a smart living room with a few clever bulbs upstairs.
Light that follows the day
Warm at breakfast, neutral through the working day, low and warm again by bedtime. The hallway skylight shifts with it. Nobody sets a schedule, and nobody hunts for the right switch.
Comfort without the thermostat war
Air conditioning and ceiling fans move together as part of a scene rather than device by device — one instruction for the room, not four.
The stairwell ties the three floors together. Cove and step lighting run on the same scenes as the rooms they lead to.
Weather that handles itself
When rain blows in, the upper-floor blinds close on their own. Nobody runs up two flights of stairs mid-dinner.
Rooms that know someone is in them
Lights respond to presence, not to a timer. Walk through at 3am and you get a soft, low light rather than the full ceiling — and nothing stays on in an empty room.
The front door, from anywhere in the house
See who is calling and let them in without walking down three flights — or from the office, if the family is out.
Music that moves with you
Speakers grouped so a playlist follows the family from the kitchen to the dining table to the yard, without anyone reconnecting anything.
Voice in four languages
English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil, so everyone in the household can speak to the home in the language they are most comfortable in. Our AI layer works on intent, so it understands what someone meant rather than requiring a memorised phrase.
The wall panel sits flush beside the screen. No trunking, no boxes on show — the hardware disappears into the ID's work.
Why it still works when the internet doesn't
Every automation, schedule and scene on this project runs on a hub inside the home. If the line drops at 2am, the lights still dim, the air conditioning still turns off, and the blinds still close when it rains. Nothing waits on a server overseas, and nothing stops working because a platform changed its plans.
There is no subscription attached to any of it — not now, and not in year three.
That is the difference between a cloud system and ours.
Working with your ID
We coordinated with Aric's team through the whole renovation: what goes where, and what has to be decided before ceilings and walls close. When the interior designer and the smart home team are aligned from day one, nothing has to be retrofitted, and nothing ends up looking like it was added as an afterthought.
This is the part homeowners underestimate. A house this size is not made smart at the end — it is made smart while it is still open.

The handover
Seven site visits over three weeks: installation, configuration, testing, and a full training session with the household so that everyone, not just the person who commissioned it, can run the home. It was handed over with a Quick Start Guide and WhatsApp support, and lifetime remote support from the same team that built it.
Lights, climate, blinds, the door, music — a whole house from one app. No subscriptions. No cloud dependency. Just a home that listens.
